Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery - Lakeway

I had my first appointment today with Dr. Lindsay Richards at Westlake Dermatology in Lakeway. She was wonderful. She was calm and explained the procedure to be sure I understood everything that was going to happen. She and her assistant were very compassionate and calmed my nerves. I can’t say it wasn’t pain free but she warned me. I appreciate her honesty and we were laughing by the time she was done with the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Richards. Her knowledge is impressive and her ability to put you at ease is a gifted skill.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this dermatologist's office. I had to wait over an hour for every single appointment. My time felt completely disregarded. Even worse, when I returned to have stitches removed, the technician handling the procedure seemed inexperienced and careless. She was trying to hold back her long hair with one hand while using the other to remove stitches from a very sensitive area. It was clear she wasn't confident or properly trained in how to handle healing skin, and the whole situation felt unsanitary and unprofessional. This kind of carelessness and disregard for patient time and comfort is unacceptable, especially in a medical setting. I won’t be returning.

I felt like Melinda Conroy was very professional, personable, and thorough when conducting a full-body skin exam. She listened intently and was informative. The office staff was also very pleasant.

Very Positive Experience. Both Dr. Richards and her Assistant were friendly, efficient and communicated very well. Options for treatment were clearly identified and explained. Best option was collaboratively determined after discussion. Great experience overall. Highly recommend westlake Dermatology and Dr. Richards.

I went to this place because I’ve had a skin problem for about a year. I explained everything in detail, and they attended to me well; I can’t complain about the way they treated me. They told me my test results would arrive in a week, and in the meantime, I was supposed to take a medication and use a cream on the wound. That was on a Thursday. The medication was not sent, so I decided to wait one more day, and it still wasn’t sent. I couldn’t call because they are closed on weekends, so I had to wait until Monday. When I called on Monday, they told me they would call me later to explain how the cream and medication worked. I never received the call. My pharmacy notified me that it had arrived. By then, the wound I had already had a scab. On Thursday, I called them to ask about my results. They told me they would call me later. I called again, and they told me I had a bacterial infection and they would send me ANOTHER new medication, but the results of another test were still pending. They sent it, and it turned out to be ear drops. Clearly confused, I asked the pharmacist if I could apply that to my wound (since the dermatologist’s office had already closed). The pharmacist told me I should call the dermatologist because it didn’t make much sense—they didn’t provide usage instructions, and it was more expensive than a cream with the same component. Again, I couldn’t call until Monday because it was the weekend. On Tuesday, I called again to ask about it; they told me they would call later, and I received a call ten minutes before they closed. I didn’t answer because I got busy at that moment, but I called back five minutes later (as they asked me to). They told me they couldn’t attend me anymore and would call me the next day. I found out my results thanks to the medication itself (because that medication treats that virus only). Clearly, I panicked a bit and waited for them to call. The next day they called and told me what I had and the medication I needed to take. I had to ask for the test results, and they only sent me one. They didn’t send the other one; they just said I had that virus, but I never received the lab results. They were very kind, I won’t deny that, but this whole horrible experience makes me not want to return to this place.
