Beneath the Surface Skin Studio

On August 13, 2025, I attended a scheduled eyebrow tattoo appointment with Amanda Razzano-Latham, owner of Beneath the Surface Skin Studio. During the service, while mapping my eyebrows, Ms. Razzano-Latham stopped working for approximately eight minutes to engage in a conversation with a colleague about a biblical scripture story. I politely asked her to stop and explained that the conversation of religion was making me uncomfortable and anxious and I thought it was unprofessional. She had said she did not understand why talking about God was making me anxious. Immediately after my request, she stated that it was her office and she could discuss whatever she wanted. I asked her again to stop. She abandoned the service mid-procedure because of her personal religious objections. Such conduct is unprofessional and unacceptable in a professional business environment. This type of verbiage was also posted on her Yelp review. She then said she could not continue on with the appointment and asked me to remove the mapping points on my face. She said SHE felt anxious, refused to continue, and canceled my service while I was still laying in the chair. She refunded my payment, and while processing the refund, she was loudly praying over me. I had contacted her many times through text and she refused to reschedule the appointment with her or her employees. Discontinuing services during or after a professional relationship has been established without proper notice or referral is behavior that is seen as “abandonment”. Refusing service because of religion is a violation of Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and federal civil rights laws. Discussing religion in a professional setting—particularly when the client is essentially stuck in the chair—is inappropriate. Refusing service under these circumstances constitutes discrimination and violates both the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and federal civil rights protections. Because of her decision, I was denied service solely after asking her not to talk about religion. I was left with unfinished brows despite investing significant time, effort, and travel. I was unable to secure a replacement appointment with another technician until August 25, 2025, leaving me without brows for nearly two weeks This caused me additional hardship, financial expense, and emotional distress. I believe this denial of service constitutes discrimination in a place of public accommodation on the basis of religion, in violation of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governor's office, Pennsylvania Human Relation commision has filed a complaint.

Wonderful experience!!! Amanda and Larisa are amazing. I felt so welcomed and it was like I knew both these ladies forever. Larisa did a fantastic job-she took her time and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I would recommend Larisa to anyone and if you’re contemplating microblading-just do it!!! Go to Larisa and trust the process-I will def be back and she gained a new customer :-)

Screaming thank you to Amanda at Beneath the Surface Skin Studios for working some serious magic on me today. I’ll save the sappy part but I’ve been waiting over 17 years to not have to pencil my brows in everyday. I’m so glad I took the leap. Amanda, you are truly an angel, who is so incredibly talented and one of the sweetest, most genuinely kind humans that I have ever met. She made me feel so comfortable from beginning to end and explained everything thoroughly. I could thank her a million times and it still wouldn’t be enough! If you are looking for to get this done... look no further, this girl is truly a God send!

I contemplated microblading for 3 years, I finally decided to do it after a friend recommended Amanda at Beneath the Service. I cannot believe how GREAT my brows look now, and most importantly (to me) how natural they appear! Amanda has a true talent and we should all be so lucky to benefit from it! She is absolutely lovely. I cannot recommend her enough. Worth every penny!

I’ve been trusting Beneath the Surface with my brows for over a year. I had 10 sessions of laser removal for my old brows - RoseAnn is nothing short of amazing. She made me feel comfortable each session and provided a lot of education about the process. Amanda did my microblading to give me beautiful full brows. Her work is truly art. She creates the most natural-looking brows I’ve ever seen. She was a great listener when I had ideas/questions about the what I wanted my brows to look like. I would honestly trust no one else!
