Extremely Disappointing Experience I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Harte to discuss leg liposuction, specifically targeting the area around my knees. I am naturally curvy with balanced proportions, but I’ve always felt that excess fat around my knees made my legs appear less streamlined. At 145 pounds, I considered this a straightforward concern that liposuction could potentially address. From the beginning, the consultation felt unprofessional. I was not asked to change into a gown prior to the physician entering the room, which I found unusual. When Dr. Harte arrived, I explained my concerns and also mentioned that I suspected I might have lipedema. To my surprise, she seemed unfamiliar with the condition, confusing it with lymphedema. When I clarified and showed her information about lipedema, she dismissed it outright, stating, “that’s a fake condition.” This was highly concerning, given that lipedema is recognized and treated by specialists worldwide. After asking me to lower my pants slightly so she could examine the area, she looked for only a few seconds before concluding that liposuction was not an option for me. When I asked why, her only explanation was that I am “bottom heavy” and that liposuction would make me look worse. She did not take the time to understand my goals or clarify what results I was seeking. I am fully aware that liposuction does not address cellulite—my concern was solely about reducing knee bulk. Instead of providing a thoughtful or professional recommendation, she suggested I “just wear long skirts to cover your knees.” The entire consultation lasted less than 10 minutes. I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and disappointed that I had paid $100 for what I experienced as a lack of knowledge, poor bedside manner, and minimal engagement.
