Ori Massage Spa

Great experience. My husband and I just left for a couples massage for his birthday. We came in on Friday 3/6 at 7 pm. The place was clean and calming. The music was relaxing and the linens were fresh. We definitely enjoyed the experience. Both of the massage therapists were great. We had a male and female therapist. Great to support a black led business. The woman at the front desk was kind and professional. The tap to pay machine wasn’t working with my phone for some reason, but she helped me feel at ease transitioning to a physical card. When I accidentally hit $2 instead of $20 for a tip, she politely asked if it was a mistake, I confirmed and asked to see the receipt since it was my first time there and she made me feel at ease to correct the tip. My husband felt great by the end of the session after having been on his feet at day. I also felt relaxed and enjoyed the additional add on offered for his birthday.

I have been a member for almost 2 years (when it was called Pause) and I have had only positive experiences here. The place is clean, smells well, always has hot cider in the cold months and offers great add-ons. Rebooking an appointment while leaving from your current one also gives an option to get basic addons for free during your next visit. My regular therapist Marija and she is absolutely delightful. She knows the human body well and doesn’t just focus on pressure but also the right movement and flow. The last half of my massage I’m usually in an almost peaceful meditative phase which is always a great sign of being thoroughly relaxed. I always leave her sessions rejuvenated and balanced. Her own words “Everyone in this world should get relaxation and a connection to the collective energy”. I highly recommend this place (AND MARIJA!!) to everyone looking for a massage in Downtown Chicago.

For my birthday, my spouse gifted me an 80-minute massage at Ori Massage on Ontario. I carefully noted where I needed emphasis in the pre-appointment client form, and repeated those requests directly to the massage therapist at the start and again during the session. She didn’t listen. Instead, she spent an excessive amount of time massaging areas I hadn’t prioritized and gave short shrift to the areas I specifically asked her to focus on. I left the appointment in knots, and far more stressed than when I arrived. The receptionist apologized, but still required full payment of the $175. The only remedy offered was a complimentary “add-on” at a future visit, likely worth $10–20. That did not meaningfully address the situation. For service of this quality, I would have expected a partial discount, at minimum, or ideally that the visit be comped. Demanding full payment for a clearly unsatisfactory and subpar service left me feeling ripped off. What made this especially disappointing is that I get massages regularly and know what a good, responsive therapist feels like. This wasn’t that. It felt like she was following her own routine rather than doing what I requested. Ironically, later that day I received a pedicure and got a more effective massage from the complimentary massage chair. At this price, clients should expect a therapist who listens, responds, and adjusts accordingly. That did not happen here. Based on this experience, one star is generous and does not accurately reflect the quality of service.

Came in for their valentines special with a deep tissue and had a lovely first time massage session. 80 minutes was definitely worth the money and my masseuse Janelle hit every knot perfectly. I also came to realize that laughing is my reflex for whenever a painful spot is being massaged. 😂 10/10 service and already made my next appointment.

I was on a spontaneous weekend vacation with my wife and my best friend. We called a bunch of places trying to book something last minute for relaxing after a long day of walking. They were able to fit all three of us in for a 80 minute massage!! Hostess was super kind!! My therapist was Samantha and she was absolutely fantastic! Very professional made sure I was comfortable and focused in detail on all my problem areas that we discussed! By far the best massage I have ever had !! I feel amazing! That’s saying a lot because I am a massage therapist myself and I tend to be very picky! Maintained perfect pressure and used precise technique!! FABULOUS!! 10/10 would recommend!
