Review of Wisdom Teeth Surgery My 16-year-old son recently had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Howell, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. From the start, the process was efficient and well organized. We were able to secure a consultation within a month of referral, and that timeline was shortened thanks to a winter storm and the office’s quick adjustments to get patients seen sooner. Leading up to surgery, the front office staff was wonderful—clear, kind, and thorough in communicating what payment (after insurance) would be due on the day of surgery, providing reminders, and explaining pre-surgery instructions and what to expect. Surgery day itself was extremely smooth. We arrived early and were taken back on time. I was able to sit with my son until he received his IV. The surgery lasted less than 30 minutes, and Dr. Howell personally came out to the waiting room afterward to let me know everything went well. I had requested an itemized receipt for record purposes, and while I would have forgotten to ask again during my conversation with the doctor, the front staff remembered and thoughtfully brought it to me without prompting—something I truly appreciated. My son is not small, and when it was time to leave, the nurse was incredibly kind and helped me get him to the car while he was laughing and a bit unsteady, which made things challenging on my own. His recovery has been smooth. Prescriptions were already called into our pharmacy and ready for pickup on the way home. We were sent home with plenty of gauze to get us through the initial bleeding. He slept for a while, woke up with only slight pain, and was even ready to game a bit that afternoon 🙂. He’s had minimal pain and swelling overall. I especially appreciated that he was given Zofran and a steroid through his IV. It was clear this helped significantly—he had no nausea from anesthesia, was able and willing to eat, and experienced limited swelling, which made his recovery much easier and more comfortable. Overall, the entire experience—from scheduling to recovery—was seamless and reassuring. Well done, Carolina Center for Oral and Facial Surgery.

Excellent care and staff! The professionalism and care started the moment we entered the office with a warm greeting from Nikki. It continued in how Courtney kindly explained the care we would receive, and then Ashley smiled and eased our nerves as she started prepping our teen for surgery. Dr. Howell continued the level of professional care from his first consult through this specialized surgery. Thank you to the whole team including Julie who helped us stay on track by managing our scheduling conflicts!
