Staff was very kind and cool…but the dentist himself seemed very judgmental of my teeth. I didn’t feel comfortable and he didn’t even introduce himself before sticking his tools in my mouth. I don’t even know his name because he never said anything other than “you got a lot of problems but YOU should focus on this one” then I was rushed out the door… I just got dental insurance and am getting problems fixed. No one needed the judgement from him. They did refer me to an oral surgeon for my wisdom tooth removal but that was the extent of that. I also called and scheduled by telling them I was in pain and most likely needed a extraction and then was told when I got there they don’t do extractions usually and that I was scheduled originally for a cleaning. So they need to work on communication better.

I can’t say enough great things about Rocky Hill Dental! From start to finish, my experience was top-notch. Casey was absolutely incredible—hands down the best dental cleaning I’ve ever had. She was thorough, gentle, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. My teeth have never felt cleaner! Dr. Massengill was equally amazing. He was honest, professional, and didn’t try to upsell me on anything unnecessary. He told me my teeth looked great (which was a relief!), but he also pointed out that one of my back teeth had multiple old fillings from years ago and could eventually crack. It’s something I was already aware of, and I appreciated his transparency. Rather than waiting for a problem to happen, I made the decision to move forward with a crown—and I’m so glad I did. It’s always better to be proactive, and I genuinely felt like he had my best interest at heart. If you’re looking for a dentist who’s honest, experienced, and provides high-quality care, look no further. Rocky Hill Dental is the real deal!

Straight up—Dr. Masengill is a baaaad man! And I mean that in the greatest way possible! He runs the best dental practice I’ve ever visited. Some background… I used to see a dentist in far West Knoxville, near Webb School. Every time I went for a visit, I felt like they were trying to sell me something. It was very tacky. They’d put you in a chair in a room that was filled with cheesy products the dentist’s wife was selling—anti-aging pills or skincare cream or even a book about dark matter in outer space that was written by the dentist himself. Regardless of how I felt about the actual dental care I received there, every other aspect of the experience once you walked in was uncomfortable. So, a couple years ago, my wife and I switched to Rocky Hill Dental. Best decision we could have made. The office suite is bright, clean and welcoming. The people are fantastic—genuinely friendly and easy to talk to. They always call you back for your appointment precisely on time, and I really, really appreciate a medical/dental practice that values its patients’ time. This summer (July 2024) when I went in for my six-month checkup, I knew I had an issue with one of my back teeth because I had been getting food stuck in a certain spot for several weeks. Sure enough, part of a childhood filling had fallen off, so I had a little crevice where food would get lodged. Not only did Casey, the hygienist, tell me this, she used a device to take photos, which she displayed on a screen for me to actually see the issue. The solution for this was to get a crown. They were able to schedule my first appointment for crown work early the very next week. When I asked Casey what that visit would entail, she explained it. And then she asked if I had ever had work done by Dr. Masengill beyond just a cleaning exam. I told her I hadn’t. And she assured me that he was extraordinarily talented when it comes to minimizing pain. And I’m telling you, this dude is a magician! I barely felt anything at all when he numbed me up. Drill work, totally painless. And quick. My second visit for the crown work was the visit where they removed the temporary crown and put the permanent fixture in place. I promise you, it took no more than 10 minutes. Dr. Masengill is a regular dude. He talks to you like a regular dude. He doesn’t preach at you about how often you floss or hit you with a bunch of dental jargon. He’s real. I don’t do many reviews, but I appreciate businesses that are well run and employ rock-solid people.
