Castle Dental & Orthodontics - Knoxville, TN (Bearden)

I absolutely love this place! I had my wisdom teeth removed today, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They made both me and my family feel comfortable, and I truly appreciate their care. I will definitely continue coming here!

This is the first one star review I've written, but I hope to warn people against getting scammed. I live on an extremely tight budget, so when I went to this place I was so worried about getting overcharged that I literally begged them not to do any care that wasn't covered by my insurance. Probably asked them five times, showed them what exactly was covered by my insurance, etc. All I wanted was a basic cleaning. A dentist came and poked at my gums for like 5 minutes and then told me they couldn't do a basic cleaning until I got a $400 "pre-cleaning" done, so I left upset, realizing that paying for dental insurance was no use if the dentist wouldn't even provide the basic care that was covered. (I'm not a dentist, but it's worth saying that I had dental care growing up and brush my teeth twice a day. I guarantee my teeth are not so bad as to need $400 worth of scraping and scrubbing to get them "clean" enough to clean.) So. I paid a copay for them to basically tell me they weren't going to do anything for me. Months later I got a bill charging even more for the dentist that poked at my gums for five minutes. Turns out she was working there but was not covered by my insurance, even though the company as a whole was. I called and told them I hadn't consented to care not covered by insurance. They straight up told me they couldn't do anything, even after I cited the No Surprises Act that protects folks from things like this. Now they've sent my bill to collections - a bill they charged me to tell me they couldn't do anything, and explicitly going against my numerous asks. Predatory and scammy place. It makes me sick. I'd rather my teeth fall out of my head than ever go back.

I don't normally do reviews, but this place is absolutely ridiculous. I could right a book on how terrible and unorganized this place is. I had an appointment at 230pm and by 6pm they still hadn't gotten to me. There was still 1 patient ahead of me and he was still going to be an hour. This is not the first time and the same thing has happened to other family members. I had already paid in full for all the work I was having done. I finally broke and told them to give me all my money back and I will go to Kodak Dental, at least they know what they're doing. Now I have to wait for my refund to go through a board to see if I can get a refund. Can you say "Lawyer" if they refuse. I will never recommend Castle Dental to my worst enemy.

I came in for a filling and was told I would receive fluoride after and never received it and was charged for it. Then went back for a cleaning and was charged random things when I received my bill. They love to add random charges and expect you to pay for it. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

My daughter went there for an exam on my insurance and was charged a fee for her exam that should have been free! She has never used this dental insurance before and they told her she has had X-rays with the insurance in the last 3 years, total lie. I checked my claims status to make sure I’ve only had the insurance for a year and a half. They also didn’t clean her teeth which is part of an exam but made an appointment for her to come in for the exam! It gives BAD BUSINESS!! scam likely!!
