DENTIST REVIEW!!! So I absolutely hate getting dental work done. Ten years or so I had a cleaning with Dr Patel in Tazewell who is now retired. That cleaning left me in horrible pain with sensitivity. Before the cleaning I had no issues. She informed me I had 5 cavities that needed to be fixed or my teeth would just continue to get worse. I thought I had great teeth so this was news to me. With the pain I experienced during her cleaning I decided to not go back and deal with the cavities. I clean my teeth atleast twice daily sometimes up to five times because I like to brush after a meal if able. Thursday I had a composite filling fall out that was done over 20 years ago. I scheduled to get it fixed with Knoxville smiles as they have very good reviews for cosmetic. Today was my appointment and the dentist refused to fill it without doing a root canal because my nerve was showing. He informed me my nerve was dead and since bacteria has been in that area if he was to fill it without the root canal it would eventually set up infection and cause me major pain until I had it pulled. The dentist was very informative and explained everything to me. He told me this is not like the root canal’s from back in the day where you have heard horror stories. He uses some kind of tree extract for the filler. I informed him that I had other cavities and wanted to just get everything fixed while I was numb. He obliged in that and took an x-ray then looked at all of my teeth. He asked why I thought I had cavities. I told him the story of Dr Patel who informed me that I had five cavities and she wanted me to come get them filled but I declined due to the pain I was in after a simple cleaning. He said Jessie you have no cavities and all your teeth are in great shape except for the one we need to do a root canal on. 🤯 My mind was blown and all I could think about is how many people have had unnecessary dental work done because a dentist misinformed them. My root canal and composite filling was done in probably less than 30 mins. I had ZERO PAIN! Literally the only thing I felt was the numbness in my face. Knoxville Smiles at Malone & Costa Dentistry has restored my faith in dental and it was a blessing for me to find an office that gave me the best care while being very informative through the whole process. Thankful to have a very good experience today with my root canal and composite filling that matched my tooth perfectly.

I had such a great experience here. I had to make an urgent appointment & was seen almost immediately. Once there, the issue was assessed & I had to have an emergency procedure. I was quite nervous & hesitant being put to sleep, but Lauren & Dr. Costa were both so wonderful & made me feel at ease. The process & plan were explained thoroughly, and they were so patient & understanding. I really appreciate them taking the time to sit down & talk with me. Dr. Malone has been trusted family dentist for over 20 years for me and my family. As a business does, it changes and grows. Even with all the growth and change, Dr. Malone still made time to meet with me to discuss a big dental decision and immediately diagnosed the problem, we discussed, then he instructed to proceed with a solution. I was then introduced to Dr. Wolco who turned my fear into faith and he took great care of me and my teeth. 10/10 I will always recommend Dr. Malone and his brilliant team. Everyone at this office always goes above and beyond.

I'm a long time patient. Everything's been fine, and routine. The reason for this review is because we're going out of town and something caused all my teeth to stain. It was an emergency (to me), and Dr. Malone saw me the next day. Problem solved, and I can travel without frightening everyone. He was careful to use the least aggressive but effective treatment. Thanks to all. A small thing for you but a significant thing for me (and everyone I smile at :-).

I ended up being there longer than I anticipated, but I honestly didn’t even notice because of how thoroughly they explained what was going on with my TMD. Lauren was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through almost everything before Dr. Costa came in, which made the entire visit well organized. If you have perfect teeth, a dental appointment can feel pretty routine. But when you have issues, it’s expensive and too often you’re told what you need, agree to it, and then feel sticker shock when it’s time to pay. That was not the case here. They laid out a clear plan, explained exactly what I needed, and told me the cost upfront so I could make an informed decision. No surprises at all. Very professional, great environment, and truly knowledgeable staff.
