Primal Instinct Tattoo

Even though my piece isn’t quite finished yet, I wanted to give Austin HUGE props and a well deserved 5 stars. From the initial meet up and consultation down to getting the work done, he made the whole process very seamless and comforting. This is my first (and definitely not my last) tattoo, and I can’t express how stoked I am to get this done. Works with what you’re wanting to do, looks out for his clients’ best interest and goes with the pace they’re comfortable with. The atmosphere in the shop was very lively and comfortable with nothing but shared laughs. Other artists were very encouraging and have genuine admiration for art being done. Would 100% recommend Austin and anyone at Primal!

I had an amazing experience at Primal Instinct getting my black bear tattoo. Yody the artist was fantastic. Professional, talented, and made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. The attention to detail in my piece is incredible and I couldn’t be happier with the final result. The shop has a great atmosphere. Super clean and everyone was welcoming. If you’re looking for high quality work from skilled artists, this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

I don’t even know where to start!!! If you want a tattoo, definitely come here- from the people to the care and service, LITERALLY EVERYTHING was perfect. I came in hoping to find a place for an eyebrow piercing. The first guy I spoke to informed me they didn’t do piercings but kindly helped me call every nearby shop. I HATE phone calls, so I was very thankful for his assistance. I can’t believe he went out of his way just to make sure u got what I wanted. Unfortunately, every place was either closed or didn’t have a piercer available. I was about to leave when they said “well, if you want a tattoo we got you- we got an artist available.” I had always wanted one but felt shy and unsure about what I wanted. They encouraged me to talk to an artist for more information. Lex was super sweet and kind. He walked me through everything, took care of me, and really helped ease my anxiety. After our conversation, I knew I wanted to go for it. They offered me some water and a snack, making sure I was comfortable before helping me find a placement for the tattoo I picked. I flinched quite a bit during the process and felt bad about it, but Lex reassured me that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. He genuinely was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I walked out feeling very satisfied.

I’ve still been trying to come up with the words to describe our experience with Carlos and Danielle after spending a day with them last week. My Dad passed away earlier this year as a result of a freak accident, a mere three weeks after my Grandfather. My family and I decided Alaska was the place we would spread his ashes as he always joked about going there and getting eaten by bears if he were to ever get a terminal diagnosis. . Ya know, the circle of life. With our travels, we knew we wanted to memorialize this moment with tattoos. After some research, my younger brother was set on having them done at Primal Instinct. I sent a message to their Facebook explaining why we were in Alaska and what we were thinking of getting. Without hesitation they agreed to take on all 7 of us as Carlos had a cancellation in his schedule. . What were the odds? The amount of healing that came from entering their shop is indescribable. Danielle, Carlos and their beautiful little girls greeted us with open arms. We spent the day talking about life, family, goals and everything in between. They allowed us to love on their babies and be our raw authentic selves without hesitation as they were with us. We left the shop with a sense of peace, beautiful artwork, and so much love for their family. . A family we plan on keeping in our lives for years to come.

Enjoyed my time here. I get anxious before a tattoo because it’s a permanent commitment and Yody set me at ease despite my nervous poking and questions. I will come back because of his skill, eye and touch, which was well applied and not unbearable. (Some artists don’t let you breathe. He moved with purpose but made the job detailed and lovely even though it was an inherently silly piece.) The experience was so positive that I want to bring back my mom who has never had a tattoo before and that’s saying a lot. Thank you, Yody. 😊
