I recently had an appointment at DSH, and I feel compelled to share my experience to help others make informed decisions. First impressions, unfortunately, were less than favorable. One of the first things I received after booking my appointment was a reminder with a very stringent cancellation policy: a $100 charge if you cancel or reschedule less than 48 hours before the appointment. While I understand the need for policies to manage appointments, I was disappointed to learn that if you need to cancel on a Friday for a Monday appointment, you’re still liable for the fee, as the office is closed over the weekend. This felt unfair given that it is impossible to reschedule within that time frame when the office is unavailable. At the actual appointment, I found the behavior of the medical team—specifically the certified technicians and doctors—to be quite concerning. Instead of offering professional care and a supportive environment, I felt judged about my skin conditions, which I believe requires medical attention, not criticism. While I understand some concerns related to lifestyle factors like weight can be addressed with better lifestyle choices (this is in our own control) it's deeply troubling to face judgment about medical issues that require real treatment. This felt especially inappropriate coming from a healthcare professional. Moreover, when I attempted to discuss my medical history and the issues I wanted assessed, it felt as though my concerns were brushed aside. I was hoping for a thorough evaluation, but instead, my attempts at providing context seemed to be ignored. My treatment plan does not align with the diagnosis provided, and I plan to address this in my follow-up appointment. However, my frustrations didn’t end with the consultation. I encountered significant issues with the automated appointment system, which had errors. I tried to contact the office for clarification, but after waiting on hold for over an hour, I had to listen to an automated message repeating every 12 seconds, stating that “all staff are currently busy.” After hearing this message 275+ times, I began to feel that either the office was unaware of the patient on hold, or simply didn’t care. In summary, while the facility may have potential, the poor communication, lack of respect for patients’ concerns, and ineffective systems have left me questioning my decision to continue care at this establishment. I hope that the office addresses these issues and works toward offering a more professional and patient-focused experience moving forward.

Jen and Nathan Hand did an awesome job on my skin cancer!! I didn’t feel the Novocain at all, and your not supposed to have fun while being worked on, but we did🤣🤣 Thank you both for the great experience!! Recommend highly😃

I waited several months to get in with a referral from my primary care provider for medical related treatment. I finally was scheduled an appoint several more months out, arranged childcare, and then was contacted two months later saying that doctor wouldn't be in that day and I had to reschedule. So, I rescheduled for even further out, arranged childcare, only to be contacted two weeks prior to my appointment saying that same doctor wouldn't be in, again. When I tried to reschedule, the only appointments were during my children's appointments or pickup times even a month out. I know scheduling with every facility is a nightmare, but this one was particularly disappointing.
