The Iowa Clinic Plastic Surgery - West Des Moines Campus

Worst experience ever in healthcare. Fraud and lies. Had to have 4 "consultation" appointments for 1 surgery. They billed insurance and us for every "consultation" Even though they were by the same Dr for the same surgery. All this felt like fraud with so many "consultations" where there was no real consultation. For one "consultation" the Dr walked in, opened the folder, said that this was already done and closed the folder. Consultation over, except for the billing of course. Dr and his staff would not answer phone calls. Not return messages. Not respond to emails. After repeated promises to make sure things were taken care of correctly after the last appointment so the surgery could be done. They then lied to us about hearing from the insurance company and tried to get us to go ahead with the surgery because they were "pretty sure" it would be covered. Of course we would have to sign the waiver saying if the insurance company denied it we would be responsible for it all. We had already heard from the the insurance co who wanted us to try and get the office to respond to the numerous requests they had sent for some clarifications. But the Dr and clinic did not respond, so insurance denied the procedure because they could not get the Dr or his staff to respond. When we told the clinic we had been working with the insurance company the clinic staff quickly changed their story. When I tried to talk to the clinic director about this I was brushed aside other than making sure the bill would get paid. Go to the other side of town, the state or the country, but not here.

The providers at the plastics clinic are awful! Don’t waste your time! Very rude!
