Revive Dermatology Clinic and Spa

I’m really disappointed in having to write this post, but I almost feel like this needs to be a public service announcement. On Wednesday of last week, I had a consultation with Lauren seeking an initial consultation on what it would look like for a bit of Botox in my forehead for some small lines and some Dermal fillers to help with my sagging jawline. I am a 42-year-old woman who has never smoked and rarely drinks, so my skin is in fairly decent condition and my goal was to seek very natural and subtle results if I chose to move forward. For Botox, I was quoted $13 per unit for my initial service and that I was going to need 40 units placed throughout my forehead and above my eyebrows. I was told that this was the recommended dosage that is in the process of being standardized across all Botox injectors, and spas. I was then told that for best results, I would need to come back for 40 units every 3 to 4 months for my forehead lines, and that subsequent treatments would be charged at $14.50 per unit, pushing my annual maintenance cost for just Botox to roughly $2,320. We then went on to discuss dermal fillers. I’m most interested in the Juvederm hyaluronic acid filler. Lauren told me about a seven point filler process that she recommended. There would be three injections vertically up higher close to the back of my face and by my ears and down towards my jawline, followed by three more vertical injections more towards the middle of my face, and then the last injection would be at the tip of my chin. Seven points. She said this would take two sessions to complete and each session would cost $2600 ($5,200 total). If I decided to get everything taken care of in one session, it would take about two hours, and I would get a discount on just the filler bringing the filler total to $5000. And the filler would last 12-24 months. Last Thursday, the day after receiving this quote from Revive, I met with my daughter’s dermatologist at the Iowa clinic for the same initial consultation. Immediately, I already appreciated the natural look of the doctors face and her nurse. They appeared glowing and like it was actually their face. After analyzing my face, the doctor recommended a few units of Botox in my forehead (also at $13/unit), and one to maybe two units of filler in my cheek areas and chin to help with my jawline sagging. Overall, my dermatologist quoted me $1500 for my entire face. My jaw dropped to the floor. Not only could I achieve the results that I was looking for at a fraction of the cost, I could achieve them in an actual medical clinic, and by a doctor with much more medical education and certifications. I then confessed to the doctor about my experience from the previous day at Revive and what that injector had suggested in terms of how much product she wanted to put in my face and the subsequent cost. I cannot even explain how big their eyes got and how much their mouths dropped as I continued, telling them what I had just been quoted the previous day. My doctor was astonished and told me that if I were to put 40 units of Botox in my forehead, likely nothing in my forehead would move. She didn’t mention that it was necessarily dangerous to have that much product put in my body, but she very clearly told me that I didn’t need it. The more research that I do regarding Botox and fillers, one of the biggest long-term effects that I’ve realized is that with more product injections over years, it can actually promote more aging. More product stretches your skin, you have more chances of complications, and the list goes on. I would highly suggest that if anyone is looking to receive these types of services and products being injected into their body, that they do their homework perhaps get a second opinion, and definitely check with your doctor.

I just got Botox from Revive (Dr. Stef specifically) about a month ago. The first two weeks I felt kind of heavy in my eyes but then literally since week 3 it’s been so perfect! I typically get Botox twice a year and with the way that Dr. Stef does it it fades out so naturally. I’m also going to do a Moxy treatment this winter and I can’t recommend it enough! 10/10 every single time I go to Revive! Also their front desk gal is a doll!

I have gotten several things done at Revive in the last couple of years. I’ve done cool sculpting with Maria that made me feel so much better postpartum. I have done Botox minimally with the owner Stef. The way she does it is so natural and I only have to go twice a year to keep it up! I have also done a Moxi and BBL and can not recommend enough if you are like me and don’t take great care of your skin regularly. No matter what you do here it’s always a clean, friendly, and tailored experience!! LOVE LOVE LOVE 💕
