I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Riley and his entire team. I’ve had three appointments so far, and every single experience has been exceptional. When I had a concern, they were able to get me in the very next day, and then scheduled me the following week to take care of the issue, which truly meant so much to me. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated with kindness. Joni at the front desk is always so welcoming and friendly. Holly, Dr. Riley’s dental assistant, was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease. My hygienist, Lauren, was so sweet and made me feel right at home during my cleaning. Above all, Dr. Riley is absolutely amazing; sweet, extremely gentle, and clearly very skilled. Hands down, this is the best dentist and dental office I have ever been to. I actually feel comfortable and confident going to the dentist now, which I never thought I’d say. Highly recommend to anyone looking for outstanding dental care!

I almost never leave reviews but felt compelled to after this experience. I have always had a fear of dentists as I have always been sensitive and hate the scraping and poking to the point of needing to be heavily numbed or put on laughing gas just to get through a cleaning. I have been putting this visit off for far too long, but in a way, Im glad I did just so that I could find this location. All staff are friendly and welcoming, as well as understanding. The exam rooms dont feel clinical, and I never felt looked down on for the health of my teeth like I have felt in the past. The office didnt feel chaotic, and the exam rooms even had tvs which was a welcome distraction. The woman doing my cleaning (I am terrible with names, i am so sorry) was willing to slow down if I ever needed a second, adjusted when necessary, talked me through everything all while never making me feel like I was being ridiculous or a bother. Atter looking over my xrays, we discussed a plan and answered all my questions with care and let me know that I am always welcome to reach out for questions or concerns. This is only my first visit, but I dont dread the follow ups. 10/10 across the board- only thing I cant yet judge is the financial side but from what I can tell, theyre fairly flexible. Definitely highly recommend especially for anyone with anxieties around dentists.

From scheduling to checkout, the experience was AMAZING. I was able to get in same day for an urgent issue and the team and Dr. Ryan had so much compassion. I am excited to be a returning patient. They even have an instruction card that states what works with the medication prescribed. :)

Since graduating from college and moving away from home, I had to find a new dentist. I heard pretty good things frol Reddit so I decided to give Downtown Dental a chance. This was hands down the best dental experience I have ever had. Scheduling was very east. You are always met with kindness here. I had gone a couple years without a cleaning, so I was a bit nervous about that part; this ended up being the most gentle cleaning I’ve had. Dr. Riley was great and explained everything very well. A kind and thoughtful team who is also very good at what they do!!

A couple of years ago, I had some really unpleasant experiences with various dentists around Des Moines after not having been to a dentist for several years. I also suspected for awhile that I have TMJD but kept getting the run around from those dentists and my primary care doctor, getting no answers or treatment plan. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Riley per a recommendation from a friend who moved to Kansas City and drives back yearly just for treatment! After my first visit, I knew exactly why she’s willing to drive 6 hours round trip to get her teeth cleaned. Dr. Riley (and his team) provide the most gentle and kind care I’ve ever experienced. I was pretty anxious for my first visit and communicated that, as well as some extra jaw pain I’d been having, and they paid special attention, allowing me to take breaks for my jaw comfort as needed. Dr. Riley is incredibly thorough and communicative, and I always leave feeling confident and cared for. I received a referral from Dr Riley my very first visit for a TMJ specialist at the University of Iowa and finally am getting answers and treatment for my condition. I highly recommend Downtown Dental Care to everyone, but especially those with anxieties around going to the dentist!
