Back when I was younger I worked out on a regular basis, and started doing Roman Chair Sit-ups. During one session I went too far back and when I came up I felt a tearing in my abdomen. Even though this did not bother me as a health concern it did bother me emotionally. As most men strive for the Classic “Six Pack” I had developed what I called a “Wine bottle”. Over the years I had gained and lost weight, at one time weighing 295, for the last few years I was at 265 and heathy… but started the GLP1 route year ago and lost another 20 lbs. I met with Dr.Steinmetz in February and discussed my options, as I had developed some loose skin from the weight loss. He agreed that an abdominalpasty with diastasis recti repair would be needed to correct the issues. He also suggested that as I was still on the shots losing more weight would produce a better outcome. August 18, 2025 I had lost down to 218 and the surgery was performed. During the surgery my daughter knew a friend from church that works as a nurse anesthetist, he was working that day, she asked him to check on me as the surgery was running a little longer than expected. He told her that he had worked with Dr. Steinmetz and I was in good hands, “he is great, takes his time and never rushes, he reported back that everything was going fine. The surgery and recovery were on point as we had discussed during the consultation. Follow up visits were always well planned and informative. Was the surgery painful, not really, I had done a lot of research and it was as I expected. Eight weeks out, am I pleased with the outcome, YES I’m 74, in great heath, 6’1 217 with a 34” waist. Would I recommend Dr Steinmetz and his staff, yes by all means!!
