Advantage Dermatology - Neptune Beach

I took my son to this dermatology clinic and the actual visit with the doctor was fine. There was little wait time, and the doctor was kind, patient, and explained everything clearly. That part of the experience was positive. Unfortunately, everything after the appointment was extremely frustrating and poorly handled. We were told my son needed one ointment and that the clinic would submit a prior authorization and have the medication shipped to our home within about two weeks. I was reassured multiple times that I didn’t need to worry. After two weeks passed with no medication or follow-up, I called the office and was told the prescription had been sent the same day—but to a pharmacy instead, without prior authorization. When I contacted the pharmacy, I was shocked to learn the medication would cost $2,000 out of pocket. I called the clinic again and was told the prior authorization had been “missed” and that they would expedite it and keep me updated. I never received any update. After another week and multiple follow-up calls, I was finally told the medication would be changed to something cheaper that supposedly wouldn’t need prior authorization and would cost around $35. Even then, the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy, and when it was finally transferred, I was told the cost was higher than promised and that the medication couldn’t even be dispensed because my son’s age still required insurance authorization. At that point, after weeks of delays, conflicting information, and repeated phone calls, I gave up. I will be going back to my son’s pediatrician for a new referral and finding a different dermatologist. The doctor herself was nice, but the communication, follow-through, and insurance handling by the office were extremely disappointing. I would not return based on this experience.

After reading reviews I was worried about how long my appointment would take but I had a great experience. First off the ladies in this office are wonderful, caring, friendly and took their time to listen to all my concerns and double check anything I was worried about. From the time I walked into the office and until the time I walked out was less than one hour that includes a full body check and biopsies. I’m very impressed and will keep coming back.

I love the Office and the staff the reason I leave 3 stars is because whoever is on the phone is always in a hurry, can't hear or never listens to what you say. If you call to leave messages or cancel appointments, never gets done. I can't say the person is rude becase she's not, but if you are not willing to listen and help customers why work answering phones?. Other than that the doctors are great and the office is really pretty and clean.

Walked in. Front desk lady acted like she had no idea why I was there. Acted like she checked me in. Waited till 20 minutes after my appointment time. No one came to get me. When back to desk lady and she asked me “are you checking in?”. I said I’ve been waiting and you already checked me in. She blamed the wait on the “back”. She asked for my info again and I could tell she actually checked me in this time. Sure enough I get called right back. PA was no help and gave me little information on my issues. Will not be coming back

Been coming to this dermatologist for over 4 years and we love this office. Dr. Sy is nice to my kids and has always been attentive. He’s thorough and even recommends more economical treatments as an option when necessary because he doesn’t just push certain brands or rx.
